The ability of the industry to attract and retain the best people will allow growth opportunities to be realised. This will also enable the industry to appropriately engage the wider community. Attracting innovators to the industry will be important to allow them to apply their knowledge and skills to SA grains industry issues and challenges.
This working group will consider what ‘cultural’ settings the industry needs to attract people to it, how the industry can become employers of choice, and what skill shortages will exist in 2030. This pillar will also determine how to build the capacity of farm businesses through upskilling in areas such as financial literacy and risk management to build resilience and continue to innovate.
