Thevenard port feasibility study

A feasibility study is underway to provide further understanding on whether it is economic to deepen the Thevenard shipping channel on SA’s West Coast.

Flinders Ports and Gypsum Resources Australia Fully funded feasibility study which will investigate:

  • Deepening the Thevenard shipping channel from the existing 8.2 metres to 9.9m
  • Consideration as to loading vessels to greater depth than 9.5m, which will require deepening of the berth pocket
  • Any barriers to the project
  • Accurate project costings

The scope of work for the study will include geotechnical investigations and consultation with dredging contractors to gain an insight into costs.

Flinders Ports will keep Grain Producers SA advised on progress with the scoping study.
