The 90-Day Transport Project
Through Primary Producers SA, GPSA has been part of the 90-Day Change @ SA Improving Road Transport for the Agriculture Industry Project.
The project started in late 2014 as a partnership between Primary Producers SA, PIRSA and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. It acknowledged that a united approach was needed to plan a road transport system that meets the existing and future needs of agriculture.
PPSA advocated that primary producers needed to be asked their views on how South Australia road transport could be made more effective and efficient. Producers were surveyed in three areas:
- Extension of existing routes for different trailer combinations.
- First and last mile access issues.
- Movement of machinery on public roads.
At the end of the survey in early 2015, more than 400 transport issues had been identified in 680 responses from across the state – 67 percent of these were producers. These issues were collated into a final report, with a commitment from PIRSA and DPTI to PPSA that both departments would continue to work on issues raised in the survey.
