GPSA Policy Officer - Full or Part-time position(s) available

As the states peak grower representative body, Grain Producers SA’s objective is to foster and initiate the development and implementation of policies that promote the economic and environmental sustainability of the South Australian grains industry for the benefit of South Australian grain producers and the South Australian community.
We now seek to appoint suitably qualified and experienced Policy Offi cer(s) to continue and enhance our project work. The role(s) are offered on a Full or Part Time basis based on the applications received. We offer a flexible, friendly and collegiate workplace where your input is valued and celebrated. Whilst our office is situated in Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills, regional candidates will be highly considered.

Tasks required in the role include:

  • Policy development and strategic planning: research issues raised at board level; provide summaries of research outcomes; provide policy recommendations for adoption by the Board.
  • Targeted research: direct grower contact via telephone, electronic communication, grower meetings to advance policy development and extension.
  • Involvement in and support of sub-committees: Drive policy related actions arising from sub-committees; develop Agenda items for sub-committees.
  • Participate in consultation process
  • Literature reviews and prioritisation of projects
  • Assessing financial implications of policies
  • Working with legislation and keeping up to date with government policy decisions
  • Colllation and dissemination of information to members

Valuable personal attributes include the ability to collate and analyse information, exceptional oral and written communication skills, the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines and a proactive approach.

A Salary based on skills and experience will be negotiated in the range of $80-100k plus super.
