Jun 27, 2017

Registrations are open for the inaugural GROWING SA conference – the first time Grain Producers SA and Livestock SA have partnered to host their annual industry events.

Set for Friday 11 August 2017 at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, Hahndorf, the conference has attracted a top line-up of speakers on the themes of farm business competitiveness, profitability and growth.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Anne Ruston, Assistant Minister for Agriculture
  • Mick Keogh, Australian Farm Institute and ACCC Commissioner
  • Ed Peter, Agricultural investment expert
  • Dr Steve Jefferies, Grains Research and Development Corporation Managing Director
  • Richard Norton, Meat & Livestock Australia Managing Director

The conference aims to keep producers updated on policy and farm business advice and enable producers, industry service providers, stakeholders, politicians and policy-makers from across SA to engage in two-way dialogue regarding policy issues and to network.

The day program is free to attend for members of GPSA and Livestock SA while there is a charge for non-members and industry delegates to cover catering.

GPSA CEO Darren Arney says there will be a number of politicians and policy-makers attending the event, which represents a great opportunity to showcase the industry, its professionalism and growth opportunities.

“In the lead-up to the State Election, we want to ensure that our industry is placed front and centre in policy debates so we can ensure primary production policies of all parties contesting the election enable our members to remain profitable,” he said.

GPSA and Livestock SA will host their annual general meetings as part of the day.

Livestock SA CEO Andrew Curtis says companies that provide discounted services to the members of both organisations have been invited to be available on the day, including industrial relations specialist Chas Cini and experts from DW Fox Tucker and Mellor Olsson.

“We are encouraging all producers to come along for the day and support the organisations that advocate for them to industry stakeholders and service providers and policy makers on a daily basis. There are a range of accommodation options available for those who are interested,” he said.

The conference will be held at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, 145a Mount Barker Road, Hahndorf. To register, visit or for more information. A draft program is also available online.

The forum is supported by event partners the Grains Research and Development Corporation and Meat and Livestock Australia and gold sponsor Spanlift.
